I love all the balconies in the narrow streets with plants spilling over and the sound of canaries
I have just come back from a little sojourn in sunnier climes namely Cadiz in Andalusia,Spain. What can I say other than delightful and so sunny and so hot. This was my first holiday in seven years although it was a "working"holiday in order to help my daughter find somewhere to live for the next eight months as part of her university course.
Unfortunately my camera seemed to not want to perform as required and combined with my artistic inability and just being overwhelmed with being in a completely different environment that I loved entirely and just looked at I don't seem to have too many interesting photos.
The weather at the start of the week was delightfully sunshine filled and hot....

the delightful Cafe Royalty recently restored
but we did have rain... the most torrential I have seen or heard, and I thought it rained hard here in England...no wonder the
recent floods in Southern Spain were so devastating at least Cadiz seems to have escaped the worst.I feel so sorry for those people whose homes have been destroyed as Andalusia is such a poor region.

sunset over old Cadiz and the Atlantic..before the rain began
All I can say is that I found the people of Cadiz to be warm and friendly and that I loved the city....
|
the reason for the trip...wearing my dress too!
....and that I can't wait to return soon rain or no rain...apparently it was back to being hot and sunny today and someone got sun burnt!

Cadiz looks wonderful. Hope your daughter has a fabulous time (and the studies go well too of course!)
ReplyDeletethank you I am sure she will.It is a lovely place...even though I seem to have some sort of magnetic force field around me that seems to attract the worse excesses of the Jet stream!!
DeleteBeautiful! I've never been to Cadiz, but I've been elsewhere in Andalusia and I love it. No, if only I could speak the language... ;)
ReplyDeleteI can't speak Spanish at all ...apart from "hola" ..so all of the time I just tagged along with an inane but affable expression rather reminiscent of Harpo Marx.Fortunately my daughter is an excellent linguist...always the best sort of people to travel with I find.
DeleteSo beautiful. I hop your daughter has a lovely time!
ReplyDeleteyes it was and I am sure she will!!
DeleteCatherine, these are delightful pictures. I hope you were able to get your daughter settled and that she enjoys her time in Spain, I have no doubt she will.
ReplyDeletethank you Lynn! Yes we managed to find a room in a wonderful house for her to live in and I am sure she will be very happy.
DeleteOooooh what a beautiful place, I'm sure you were sad to leave. On trips I have often been too overwhelmed by my surroundings to take pictures and spent the entire time wandering in a euphoric daze. That's the best kind of vacation. Glad you got a change of scenery.
ReplyDeletethank you!!
ReplyDeleteI looooooooove Cadiz! I'm completely envious of your trip! You look like you had a fantastic time. Oh, to have been a little extra passenger in your suitcases! *sigh*
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely! Andalusia really is one of the nicer regions in Europe to spend the winter months! :) Glad you got your daughter settled so nicely, I hope she'll have a great time!
